ABOUT FTP APPAREL

Who Am I?

Hi, my name's Garrett Keeping and I’m the face of Fear The Possessed Apparel. I’m a support worker, a mental health advocate, and entrepreneur. I grew up in Maple Ridge, British Columbia, Canada, and spent much of my youth in and out of foster care. I’ve also been through addiction and had my share of diagnoses. I was diagnosed with ADD early in my childhood but as I got older I self medicated with drugs like cocaine, crack rock, methamphetamine and alcohol. At certain points in my life these turned into very volatile and very serious addiction issues. I eventually curved the hardcore narcotic abuse and traded it in for a decade of alcohol addiction. My life has taught me to acknowledge, value, and work with what’s most extreme in my own personality so that I can channel my energies into building a brand that helps and celebrates what’s different in others too. I’ve learned among the metal community, which itself can be rife with addiction, and I’ve found my own path to recovery. Metal music has literally saved my life. My non-biological father (but a father nonetheless) introduced me to heavy metal by taking me to an Alice Cooper concert when I was seven and since then, I have been to hundreds of shows. Heavy metal eventually saved me because, believe it or not, there’s so much positive energy in the metal community!

What’s Fear The Possessed?

I am a dreamer. I always have been. This is my passion project.

I am possessed with this dream just as others become possessed with their own goals and visions. Fear The Possessed Apparel exists to make people aware of the insane amount of potential that can be found within a person when they are passionate and driven to succeed.

We want to reignite the fire in the defeated, bring hope to those that struggle with addiction, inspire the ones who have given up on themselves, aid those who are on a path to recovery, and bring awareness and understanding to those who suffer with mental health issues.

All this, while promoting a positive mental/metal attitude.

Fear The Possessed Apparel aims to go beyond being a simple clothing company, incorporating a music brand that releases collaboratively written music/metal/rock with those who share our vision.

We are also committed to giving back to our community and supporting other mental health initiatives.

Why P.M.A.?

We at Fear The Possessed Apparel feel that a Positive Metal/Mental Attitude is a healthy approach to recovery, and life in general. The message of support and community among metal fans is something that can resonate beyond the genre. They accept all the broken people without judgment. In this regard, metal is highly unlike other types of self help, because it doesn't promote an environment that would look down on people for not being super perfect all the time, or striving for perfection. If someone slips and falls in the pit, the community is there to pick them back up and steady them upon their feet.

Recovery is scary, but you don’t have to be completely alone. The metal community is an unconventional place to look for support, but it is (perhaps unsurprisingly) full of people who are hardcore enough to be sober.

And remember keeping a positive mindset in a day-to-day setting isn't always easy. It is not a naive approach to winning the day. It is a way of seeing the Silver linings through hard internal or external conflict and coming out the other side successfully. Keeping the PMA is a stoic approach to everyday Life. Life can be very difficult but we're in this together. Truly.

And last but not least...

Why Slay The Day?

Because motivation comes and goes. It is fleeting but slaying the day is about discipline and consistency repeating the same habit over and over and over again to conquer the war within.

To beat addiction or any bad habits you must replace those habits with new ones and this comes with effort, self love, mindfulness, self-awareness, and most importantly the discipline to execute small daily habits to reverse and rebuild the neuroplasticity.

New pathways that will help you to truly slay the day.

So I asked you, are you POSSESSED?

Are you POSSESSED with a positive mental

attitude?

Are you POSSESSED with an idea, a passion, or a belief in yourself?

ARE YOU POSSESSED TO SLAY THE DAY?!

Well we are.

We look forward to seeing you crush it.
